If circumstances require it, we may transition between in-person and telehealth services as needed for everyone’s well-being.

TERRAP accepts personal checks, cash, ZELLE, VENMO (no processing fee), and credit cards (2% processing fee applies). While we don’t participate in any insurance networks, we submit claims for out-of-network benefits on your behalf. Payment is required at the time services are rendered.
TERRAP doesn’t participate in insurance networks, but many insurance plans offer out-of-network benefits that reimburse a percentage of costs. As a courtesy, we submit claims for out-of-network benefits electronically. Most insurers reimburse patients directly, with deductibles and co-insurance possibly applying.
The TERRAP program begins with a consultation and comprehensive evaluation of your specific anxiety issues. You’ll receive step-by-step lessons that become yours to keep, focusing on present challenges rather than past experiences. Our time-limited, symptom-focused approach includes practical tools, desensitization techniques, and life skills training.

Terrap Anxiety and Phobia Care is the oldest and largest treatment center in the greater New York area, providing specialized care for those with complex anxiety and related conditions. However, all too often, people are dissuaded from receiving our specialized services because insurance companies push them into seeing network providers, rather than going out of network.
Insurance companies require their contracted providers to turn over treatment records and other clinical information on demand. In our practice, we believe in maintaining our patients’ privacy and confidentiality. Furthermore, in-network providers are reimbursed far less than out-of-network providers. As a result, in-network clinicians are often newer and less experienced than those who can command higher compensation.
Anxiety is the number one problem for which people seek mental health treatment. However, many of our patients have sought help in-network and find that providers may lack the specialized training and experience that we provide.
Our high success rate is accomplished through the structure of our copyrighted treatment manual, and we are one of the only practices that will help you by accompanying you into the situation or activity that you presently fear and avoid. This is considered the gold standard of treatment, yet few people do it. Moreover, we offer specialized techniques to help those with anxiety not overreact through a series of gradual exposure tests that reduce their misinterpretation of normal and benign body sensations.
Our patients have reported to us that the pain and distress caused by anxiety and concomitant conditions is worse than anything physical they have suffered. Therefore, we hope that you are able to give priority to receiving care that can be considered “best practices,” rather than seeking a less expensive alternative.
Finally, if you aren’t able to afford an out-of-network provider, and you are unable to find someone in-network who can help, then you may request that the insurance carrier allow you to obtain a single case agreement, which basically allows the insurance company to pay us directly if no provider in-network can help. It is the law that they must provide someone in-network to assist you with your particular problem, or they must pay for you to see someone of your choosing.
Ultimately, we want you to get the best possible outcome and achieve your goal. We recommend that you go to our website, AnxietyandPanic.com, and click the “Choose a Therapist” tab, where you will find helpful information to guide you in selecting a therapist and advocating for your own best interests.
