Dr. Cassandra D'Accordo received her PhD in clinical psychology from St. John's University in 2014, and has been proud to be a part of TERRAP since that time. She now serves as TERRAP's Director of Marital and Family Services, as well as being the Clinical Coordinator of Child and Adolescent Services.
During her career she has also cultivated a wide range of experience and skills in various environments, including working as the DBT Team Leader on an inpatient adolescent unit and coordinating a program for individuals with first episode psychosis. She has held associate faculty positions at Mount Sinai School of Medicine, St. John's University, and Hofstra University. Throughout her career, she has pursued opportunities to develop a skilled, compassionate approach with people across the lifespan from diverse backgrounds, as well as a broad range of disorders and human experiences.
Dr. D'Accordo has worked extensively with children, adolescents, and adults with anxiety and mood disorders, trauma and stress related disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorders, and personality disorders, helping them to build upon existing strengths and develop new skills. She is well equipped to employ a variety of treatment approaches with her clients based on their unique needs, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Dialectical Behavior Therapy. Dr. D'Accordo has a particular interest and expertise in couples and family therapy, as well as treatment for adolescents displaying behavior problems.
Her ability to build and maintain strong therapeutic relationships lends itself well to her practice in general, and in particular to the complex demands of working with individuals and couples struggling to resolve conflict, diminish symptoms, and strengthen their relationships.
