Veronica Watkins is a Clinical Mental Health Counseling graduate student at Molloy University. She will be working at TERRAP as a mental health counseling intern. Veronica will be completing her master's degree in May 2024. Since starting her master's program, she has completed and excelled in courses such as psychopathology, psychodiagnostics, counseling theories, counseling skills and foundations, multicultural counseling, and human sexuality. Veronica has been conducting individual therapy sessions at the Molloy Mental Health and Wellness center. The Mental Health and Wellness Center is a clinic that provides weekly one hour therapy sessions within the local community. Veronica approaches therapy from a person-centered background by incorporating empathetic listening and unconditional positive regard. Veronica believes that building a positive therapeutic relationship with her clients is the first step to treatment. She incorporates certain techniques from other theories into her sessions such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and mindfulness techniques, depending on the client's needs. Veronica provides a safe space for clients to share openly without fear of judgement. Veronica has a bachelor's degree from Bryant University in Communications. She has worked in the field of communications and public relations for five years before pursuing her passion for becoming a mental health professional.
