Dr. Jaclyn Wolferd received her Doctorate in School Psychology from Alfred University. She is a psychotherapist and Nationally Certified School Psychologist who specializes in the treatment of children and adolescents who experience developmental trauma and mood/anxiety disorders. Dr. Wolferd was awarded a Master of Science in Mental Health Counseling from Long Island University/CW Post and a Master of Arts in School Psychology from Alfred University. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Dowling College. Dr. Wolferd completed her APA accredited internship at Mercy First on Long Island. Her dissertation was entitled: "A Growth Mindset Intervention with Elementary-Age Children".
Dr. Wolferd specializes in play therapy with children as young as four years old. Dr. Wolferd uses a person-centered and eclectic approach to best treat her client's needs. She has experience working with diverse populations and has worked as a clinician with children, adolescents and their families for the past 12 years. Since the start of her career, Dr. Wolferd has worked within a multitude of settings: schools, children's psychiatric hospitals, addiction treatment centers, and residential treatment centers for adolescents. She is a trained school psychologist with a breadth of experience in psycho-educational evaluations and psychological assessments.
As a therapist, her goal is to create an open, warm, and trusting environment to address some of life's most challenging experiences. Fostering a non-judgmental and accepting atmosphere allows her clients to feel supported and safe. Dr. Wolferd works with clients of all ages and backgrounds to address such common concerns as anxiety, depression, relationship issues, communication, anger management, and grief. Her interpersonal style allows her to join with her clients by using humor and levity to foster a therapeutic bond and assist them with taking their first step towards healing and growth.
